product's i would not repurchase

I love seeing posts about which products people would continue to purchase, however it is refreshing to see which ones people would not. Sometimes they simply may not buy them again because their skin type has changed or they have found better value for money, not just because they hate them and it is interesting to consider the reasons they would not spend their money again. So, I have been through both my makeup and miscellaneous draw (if I'm honest all my draws are miscellaneous) and decide which products I would not repurchase. I also really liked this picture, I don't need all these products because oh bitch! I'm perfect!

MAC Whirl (£17.50)- I am not even sure if the colour is Whirl because the name has rubbed off, however, I wouldn't buy any more MAC lipsticks in general. I didn't think the lipstick was terrible, I just don't really like the satin finish it gives and I find that I have to reapply it quite a bit. It was not bad, but definitely not worth the price you pay.

New Look Matte Velvet Lip Crayon in Heather (£4.99)- I found this product way too creamy like there is the type of creamy lipstick which is good and easy to apply, but this one was just way too difficult. It went everywhere. I wasn't really a fan of the colour either, plus it broke off so I had to throw it away anyway.

Younique Moodstruck Mascara (both the new and old one) (£19 and £23)- I am throwing these out as well as never repurchasing them. The fibres literally go everywhere and it is such a pointless invention. It is so cheaper and easier to use normal mascara, and probably even fake lashes.

NYX Eyeshadow in Frostbite (£5.50)- The colour is really pretty, it is a brilliant white colour for the inner corners or a really blinding highlight. However, I simply never use it and I find the eyeshadow is quite dry so there is little point in me repurchasing.

Makeup Forever Mat Velvet Foundation (£27)- This blends really well which is great, but I am really not a fan of the applicator or the consistency. It is quite watery but also thick which is odd, and I would much rather there be a pump applicator than some odd paddle thing. I also find that it oxidises a little bit which happens with most foundations, but it means that my perfect shade does not stay perfect. I definitely think there are better foundations out there for the same price/cheaper.

Miss Sporty Lipstick in My Nice Plum (£2.99)- This lipstick is a beautiful autumn plum shade, however, it really does not suit me. I have really pale skin and it just looks way too dark and does not match my eyes very well. Miss Sporty lipsticks, in general, are very good quality for the money, but this just does not work for me and it smells horrible

Rimmel BB Cream (£6.99)- I don't hate this BB cream. I think it actually works quite well. However, I find it clings to my dry patches a little and even though I have the lightest shade it is still way too dark for me, I have to blend it out quite a bit. I just think there is probably a better one out there for the same prices which will work for me instead.

Younique Stiff Upper Lip Stain in Sleek (£18)- I really like the colour of this, it is a beautiful dark brown but the formula is horrendous. It is way too watery making it really difficult to apply and it comes out really patchy! I love the way it dries down so it is such a shame about the patchiness, it's difficult to make it look decent.

Every Nivea Lip Balm They Make- I don't like Nivea lip balms, no matter how many I try. The lip butter doesn't work and leave a weird cream layer on my lips that are really visible. The colour and care has barely any pigment and does nothing. The pearl shine one washes me out and also does not help. Nivea lip balms are not great, there are so many better ones out there.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Oh Snap ($5.50)- This has changed colour, like overtime it has become a different shade. I don't hate it, but it's not what it used to be. It also isn't matte like it says, it is very creamy and has more of a satin finish. I just don't really like the formula so will not be repurchasing, however, it smells incredible.

W7 Cheeky Trio (£9.95)- I use this most days, but I do not think it is worth the money. The bronzer is really nice, it suits me well, however, the blush is not really my shade and the highlighter does not work as a highlight. It is nice, however, I think I would be much better buying the products individually!

Revolution Golden Sugar Ultra Blush Palette (£5.40)- Revolution is an amazing, high quality but affordable makeup brand, however, this product just isn't for me. All the shades are way too dark for my skin, and they are nearly all shimmery which isn't my cup of tea anymore. This would work well on darker skin tones or those that enjoy shimmery products, however, this just does not suit me.

Anatomicals Memorably Good Daily Face Moisturiser (£6)- If you have seen my brand review you will know how much I love Anatomicals, and there was nothing wrong with this product, apart from the fact it was not heavy duty enough. This is a lovely everyday product for a light bit of moisture, but if you have extremely dry patches you will need something with a bit more heaviness. If my skin ever changed, I would definitely repurchase, however, how it is at the moment means I would not repurchase it.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope it made you consider whether or not to purchase any of these products in the future! I haven't included any products I really hate and would never use again, however, is there any products you would definitely never repurchase? Let me know!

  3. Totally agree with the Nivea lip balms. They are great just for a day but if you have super dry lips like mine, I have to reapply every 10 seconds!

  4. A lot of these companies I have never heard of before because I’m not from the UK, but I was surprised to see colorpop on here! I’ve heard good things about that company but I guess that just goes to show there’s no such thing as a perfect makeup company. I’ve tried a Makeup forever highlighter before and not gonna lie, I didn’t like it at all. I think I’m going to stick to Too Faced, primarily!

  6. I hate Younique products. Nothing personal but I just feel like the people who sell them are always in my face basically begging me to buy these products, and I can just get better at the drugstore! Good choice on never repurchasing those 3 items! Also, I'm not a fan of the New Look lipstick range either, all the lipsticks I have had, whether crayon, gloss, satin or even matte are so hard to apply and look pure sh*t after half an hour! Loved hearing your unfavourites, it has definitely made me rethink things I want to buy! x

  8. I'm fairly new to wearing makeup. I'm not young, but I don't like to say I'm old as I'm in my early 30's, lol. I just never really wore makeup before. I have collected quite the stockpile over the years between gifts, grabbing stuff on clearance or with coupons and such...just never actually wore it or even tried! To be completely honest I was afraid I would look like a complete clown putting it on so I didn't even try. I've been trying more lately, building self-confidence, and makeup has been somewhere I have been changing. So I like reading these lists for things to avoid. I have found I have a lot of these products as well!

missing: madeline mccaan (theory)

Typically, the true crime posts I write such as The Beaumont Children or Who Put Bella In The Wych Elm? are factually based posts with (what I hope) is a high level of objectivity.  However, I was requested to discuss my theory on the Madeline McCann case so this Missing/Unsolved will be opinionated.

I have decided not to go into extensive detail about her disappearance, although I will give you the basic facts and discuss the reasons behind my theory whilst talking about it. Her case is one of the most publicised in the world, so I believe most people will have knowledge of her disappearance that does not require me to write about it. If you are not familiarised with it, you can read about Madeleine McCann here.

Quick disclaimer: I am in no way stating that this is definitely what happened to Madeline, nor am I claiming to have any personal factual evidence regarding what happened to her. Regardless of what happened to her, a little girl is still gone and family members deserve to k…

five tips for treating yourself on a budget

Treating yourself is important, whether or not it be to a simple chocolate bar or a trip to the cinema, buying something you love to give yourself a little happiness is a key to living a better life. As a student with little income, I find it difficult to afford to treat myself around all the things I am required to pay for. I spend a lot of my time hunting for deals or reduced items just so that I can give myself that little bit of joy. Today I am going to share with you my top tips for treating yourself on a budget.

1- Find yourself a free treat- Treating yourself may not be about purchasing something, it may simply be sleeping in a little extra on the weekends or going for a walk in your favourite park. Spending time doing things you love and taking care of yourself definitely counts as treating yourself and it is something everyone could do a lot more often!
2- Look in charity shops- This is especially good if you are a reader/enjoy watching movies, or even if you just want to trea…

four top self-help books

Self-help/life lesson books are something I love to read in my spare time. Although I do enjoy fictional pieces of work, I find it meaningful to also read books that further my personality, that help me learn how to move through personal challenges and understand my true self. Even if you're not a big fictional reader, I do think self-help books have a positive impact and tend not to be too difficult to read, so I always recommend at least trying to read one or two a year. As we move forward in time, and the world becomes more competitive, people judge themselves more and personal challenges get more difficult, the market for self-help books has expanded and more people are publishing life books than ever before. Here are a few self-help books I have personally read/I have heard incredible things about, in order to try and help you on your journey.
